A Week in the (Night) Life of TAO by Mike Snedegar

Working at TAO Las Vegas can be very surreal at times. In this beautiful building, some of the biggest names in the world pass through its doors each week. To give you a glimpse of a week in the life of TAO, I chose one of the most exciting and celeb filled weeks the club has seen yet, the week of the MAGIC/PROJECT fashion conventions and NBA All-Star Weekend. This was a week filled with big events and jam packed VIP sections filled with A-List stars ready to get their party on.

It started on Tuesday night when international superstar Michael Jackson dined at the TAO Asian Bistro. Jackson arrived through a private entrance and dined with four guests. He wore an all black outfit with black sunglasses and dined on Chicken Satay, Chilean Sea Bass and Lobster Wontons. The group stayed about 90 minutes and left happy stating that they had enjoyed the meal. In the nightclub, BPM hosted the evening with guest DJs: DJ Momjeans (AKA Danny Masterson), Steve Aoki and DJ Roxy Cottontail. Music stars Ashanti and Nelly stopped by the club late night and took a VIP table for the remainder of the evening, also producer Dallas Austin was at the nightclub.

Kanye West at TAO

Wednesday night was hosted by Hennessy and Kanye West for a special Valentine's Day celebration for the Project Convention. Among the celebs spotted for the event were: Kanye West, Russell Simmons, Courtney Hansen, Jonathan Cheban, Jody Sweetin, Reggie Miller, Darrius Love, Michelle Rodriguez, Maurice Hennessy, Anand Jon, model JP Calderon, model Brian Kehoe, Ray J, Antoine Walker, Cee-lo, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Lupe Fiasco. West arrived with his fiancé after 2AM wearing jeans, a Gucci jacket and vintage Nike Air Jordans.

Frankie Muniz at TAO

Thursday night was hosted by Hudson Jeans and Creative Recreation footwear. The party produced a record number of attendees, many of which were in town early for NBA All-Star weekend. R&B singer Ne-Yo gave a surprise performance, belting out his hit track "So Sick" to the packed nightclub. DJ Vice controlled the crowd with his suave turntable skills. Celebs in attendance included: Courtney Hansen, Gene Simmons, Damon John (creator of Fubu), Jennylee Berns with Frankie Muniz with a small Mohawk haircut, actress Melinda Williams with DJ D-Nice, Reverend Run from Run DMC, and basketball great, Julius Erving.

Friday night was taken over by shoe giant Nike. In celebration of the 25th year anniversary of the Air Force 1 as well the launch of Nike's latest basketball shoe – the Air Force 25, celebrities walked a gold carpet. The event was hosted by BET personality Big Tigger and featured performances by Nas and Grammy Award winner Ludacris. Basketball greats past and present were in attendance including: Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Rasheed Wallace, Reggie Miller, John Sally, Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Paul Pierce, Charles Barkley, Shawn Marion, Dwayne Wade and Amare Stoudemire. Celebrity guests included: Vivica Fox, Maya, Diddy, Nelly, Queen Latifah, Usher, Kelis (sporting pink hair), Nicky Hilton, Brandon Davis, David Katzenberg, Stavros Niarchos, Kim Kardashian, Chamillionaire, Rosie Perez, Brody Jenner, Kelly Rowland, Nick Stahl, singer Robin Thicke, former Miss USA and model Kenya Moore, actress Elise Neal, actor Chi McBride and poker player David Williams. Arriving separately within minutes of each other, Nas and Ludacris played to a packed house, high above the crowd from the DJ booth. Around 1:30AM, Nas performed hits including "Hip Hop is Dead" and "Made You Look." Ludacris then stepped in performing "Move Bitch" and "Stand Up" with special guest and fellow rapper Shawnna.

On Saturday night, TAO hosted the biggest celebrity blowout of the NBA All-Star weekend, The Two kings Party. Two kings -- Jay-Z, "King of Entertainment" and LeBron James, "King of Sports" took over the 42,000 square foot TAO Restaurant and Nightclub, February 17th to co-host a private "power dinner" that consisted of a who's who in the entertainment and sports industries, including many of the CEOs and CMOs from Fortune 500 companies in town for the NBA All-Star Weekend. Following the exclusive dinner, guests went to TAO Nightclub where they were joined by 1,500 stars and athletes who partied to the sounds of DJ Funk Master Flex 'til 4AM.
