While most every other celebrity on the planet loves Vegas, apparently Batman doesn't care too much for Sin City. I'm not talking about Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney or even Adam West for that matter. This is the actual Batman. It's not like this is malignant gossip planted by a nefarious villain, either. This is straight from the bat's mouth as quoted in the new comic book 'The Brave and the Bold #1.'
The story follows Green Lantern and Batman and their alternate identities, Hal Jordan and Bruce Wayne, through a men-in-tights adventure that leads them to Las Vegas. As you can see in the art below, as they are flying in over the Las Vegas sign, which apparently is set in a forest, Batman says he doesn't like Las Vegas. In the ensuing banter, Green Lantern slams Batman's wardrobe and Batman tells Green Lantern that he fits in with Vegas. I don't see too many guys that are not in a Cirque du Soleil show running around in tights and it's not like the Green Lantern is flying around with a half-yard of margarita.

If you read the message boards, the comic book fans are geeked up over the story by Mark Waid and art by George Perez and Bob Wiacek, but seriously, what Vegas ever did to Batman to make him hate it? I'm even more confused that further in the story, when Hal and Bruce are playing blackjack at the Kismet casino, Bruce seems like a
Vegas regular.
I'll be honest with you. Most everything I know about Batman, I learned from TV and the movies so it very well may be that somewhere in the countless Batman comic books, there is a frame or two that would share some insight. It stands to reason that Bruce Wayne would be known in Vegas as a high-roller, but again, what would prompt Batman to be a Vegas hater?
Maybe when Batman was in town once and all batman drunk, he kept waking up during cognac-induced nightmares and would confuse the Luxor beam for the Bat Signal. I could see where that would get old if he constantly had to fire up the Batmobile and wait in Striplock (gridlock on the Strip) only to get to the pyramid and find out it was just
Criss Angel levitating in the beam.
Sounds like Mayor Goodman needs to work some of his Vegas magic and start a crusade to convert the Caped Crusader over to the 'light side.'
