As far as red carpets go, the AVN Awards red carpet is definitely in the 99th percentile of coolness. It's one of the few celebrity preambles where you go directly from asking Criss Angel about where he hangs out in Vegas and then straight into a detailed scene synopsis from Amber Rayne on how she got nominated for "Most Outrageous Sex Scene."
For the record, Criss likes to hang out in the clubs in Vegas and if you haven't seen Amber's movie, the scene involves a blender -- interview clips below.
In other red carpets, people are more concerned with who's wearing whom and contrived questions about artistic endeavours in correlation with the viability mass media, multi-platform marketplace. This ain't that kind of red carpet. I'm sure there were those discussions occurring, but just not as much.
You also see celebs like Big (pictured) from Rob & Big on MTV who said he was there working. "If the reality show doesn't work out, I may have to make me one of these movies," he said. He then went on to mention how the show was top in ratings all over the world, it's clear he'll probably be too busy for extracurricular film making.
This year, the AVN Awards were open to the public with over 7000 people watching it live at Mandalay Bay. If you weren't one of the lucky thousands, you can catch the show on Playboy TV in March with a full red carpet rundown hosted by Jesse Jane and Daisy Marie.
Below are some red-carpet antics where you can find out where your favorite porn stars like to hang out in Vegas as well as memorable highlights such as Jenna Jameson and Tito Ortiz being an adorable couple and Dave Navarro confusing a Fletch interview for a Barbara Walters Q&A. Other clips are from Evan Seinfeld & Tera Patrick, both up for Crossover Star of the Year as well as Stormy Daniels, Hillary Scott, T-Real and Kaylani Lei.
Here is a still from Jim Norton, who hosted the awards with Jessica Drake, since that's about all I could use without AOL censors clamping down. The interview ended with Jim saying, "I'm a dirty, dirty boy." Which, by the way, he proved later on with his opening set to start the awards show. He was dirty, but oh so funny.
Stay tuned to Luxe Life first thing Monday morning as Robin Leach brings you the other side of the red carpet. Here's a AVN Luxe Life teaser with photos.

1. I work in Las Vegas and have a friend that has become aquainted with a Real Estate Developer named William Tuchscher based in San Diego that is planing to build a Rolling Stone Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He apparently licensed the brand to do a chain of hotels and other things last year.
I haven't read much about it, and have only found some articles about a Mr. Wenner (I saw his name on your site today) being in Vegas some months ago looking at properties with Mr. Tuchscher....... there have been a few blogs. But mostly its word on the street here. Are you aware of Mr. Tuchscher's plans? The rumour is that its a major project like $2,Billion, and that it is all about Rock&Roll music with like 10 live music clubs. A friend of mine saw a video and plans for the project but, for some reason everything seems very "hush-hush?"
I do know that Mr. Tuchscher has been in Las Vegas almost constantly to purchase a site for the project. ------ Is anyone there following the projects progress? Do you know where I might get more information about the project and more details? I really want to find out about its location, and the plans for retail stores?
