Mamma Mia Ending Run at Mandalay Bay

Mama Mia in Las vegas is closing
Luxe Life
learned this morning that the Benny Anderson and Björn Ulvaeus' global smash hit musical 'Mamma Mia!' will wrap-up a successful five-and-a-half year engagement at Mandalay Bay in late summer 2008.

The show, which recently celebrated its 1,500th performance, will end with more than 2,300 shows and is the world's Number One Musical. The production, based on the music of ABBA, is the longest running and most successful full-length Broadway musical ever to play Las Vegas.

"We have been so welcomed in Las Vegas by local audiences and visitors alike," said global producer Judy Craymer. "I am so proud that we have paved the way for other blockbuster shows from London and Broadway to be able to play on the Strip. We have been very fortunate in partnering with Mandalay Bay who continues to support and promote Mama Mia! in every possible way with us."

Craymer added, "We are confirming that we will end this Las Vegas run of 'Mama Mia!' now to let visitors know that they should plan ahead to see the production on their next visit to Nevada. 2008 promises to be a very exciting year for MAMMA MIA! as we are in discussions about bringing the show to new markets, including South America, that rarely get a chance to see live musical theater."
