Prince Planning to Launch 3121 Magazine in Vegas to Further Control His Image
Prince now plans to dabble in the world of publishing. For a man who is overly obsessive about privacy and control of what gets printed, and where, this is the ultimate move.
Since Prince has come to town his PR team has been irritable over Luxe Life photos of the artist and ordered them removed since he didn't approve them! (I guess the lighting wasn't right and showed his age too much!) They also were told by Prince to have news of his staffers yanked from Luxe Life -- so there went the story about his new makeup person along with the interview with his private chef who runs his new 3121 restaurant at the Rio.
But now they actually emailed this news at 8AM this morning to basically say "Prince will now have his own magazine." I wonder if he'll use the pages to explain why he ripped an I-Pod concert promoter to shreds for swearing in his presence last week. Prince, who is a devout Jehovah's Witness, apparently had the businessman hold Prince's bible and apologize for swearing and promise to never repeat the offense! I guess that means he's also not allowed to sing Prince songs such as 'Sister' 'Let's Pretend We're Married,' ''Sexy M.F,' and so on and so on!! (Lets see how long it takes for the pr-whiz kids to call and complain about this gem!!)
Meantime, though, the PR group who jump at Prince's ever request did send out a Prince approved photo for Luxe Life/Vegas Pop to run with this breaking news of his entry into the publishing world. You can see the picture here, and find out about his New Year's Eve show.
Here's what they wrote and Prince himself approved:
"Currently in talks with several Las Vegas publishers, Prince has piqued the interested of all the major players with his concept 3121 Magazine. When Prince is not bringing down da' house at 3121 on Friday and Saturday nights, he is busy pursuing his current hobby, photography and it appears that his work is quite extraordinary -- capturing private candid shots. 3121 Magazine would provide the perfect outlet to showcase his photos.
The new 3121 magazine (in development now) will feature interviews with musicians and exclusive photos taken by Prince. Currently on location shooting publicity shots for a new singer he is working with, Prince will be back in Vegas to ring in the new year at 3121."
If the magazine has self-applause writing like that and its all about Prince all the time being self-congratulatory I personally think its not going to threaten my day job!

Thanks Robin for not letting him get away with this!

3. The Artist formerly known as relevant is a little b***h. It's sad, too, because he used to be so creative. Now he's just an old man trying way too hard.

1. This isn't Prince's first venture into the magazine world. Previous titles include "10,000" and "NPG Magazine." Neither lasted long and neither will this one. After a few issues, he'll grow bored with it or decide not to pay the printer, and that will be the end of 3121 Magazine.
