New Miss Nevada USA Talks

Fox 5 Interviews Helen Salas, ne Miss Nevada USA 2007Fox 5 News in Vegas had a nice interview with new Miss Nevada USA Helen Salas this morning. You can see from the time-stamp that it's 7:44AM and she's g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s.

Miss Salas was the first runner-up and since Katie Rees was stripped of her crown on Thursday (pun intended) and "unable to fulfill her duties as Miss Nevada USA," Helen takes the title.

I understand that the pictures that brought down Katie are five years old and kids today (having learned their core values in the more promiscuis Clinton era vs. the conservative Reagan-Bush years) have lower inhibitions. I can't help but think that Helen should have won in the first place. Helen's beauty could definitely launch a thousand chips. (Sorry, couldn't resist one last Vegas-related pun coupled with a ancient Greek historical reference.)

Was the Miss USA pageant over-zealous having just went through the Tara Conner experience? Did Katie not disclose the photos on her pageant application? Where did the photos come from and how did they end up on a Canadian site?

I suspect all of these answers will come out in the next few days. In the meantime, we wish Katie well -- we hear there are six-figure modeling offfers coming in -- and wish good luck to Helen as she represents Nevada at the Miss USA pageant in March.
