Vegas has gone cowboy crazy and in a flash of a sparkling spur, the National Finals Rodeo is back in town. For the next two weeks, supersized Stetsons will be seen up and down the Strip. The NFR, which is booked at the Thomas & Mack Center through 2020, is back in town with prizes totaling more than $5 million. Call Vegas Virginia City and call the event the Superbowl of ropers and riders. There are seven major challenges for the bravest of the brave to battle bulls and wrestle steers thru December 9, in addition to a Miss Rodeo America pageant, a bucking horse and bull sale plus the Cowboy Christmas holiday show at the Convention Center. More than any other single event in the Vegas year, the NFR completely takes over our Sin City. Even normal Strip showroom headliners get the cowboy boot and are replaced as they go country in a real ten-gallon way! We are so hopelessly dedicated to cowboy week that NFR becomes the only show in town, and in-between Thanksgiving and Christmas it completely changes the slow tourism and convention period of yesteryear! The list of country stars coming in is simply staggering with everybody from Vince Gill to Big & Rich, from Randy Travis to Carrie Underwood, from Brooks and Dunn to Brad Paisley! It all got underway last night on Fremont Street with Trick Pony, Deana Carter, Little Texas and Ricochet.

That was the gnarly Page One headline of the New York Post as Hollywood's female brat-pack of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears palled and partied pantyless around Hollywood for five consecutive nights! But there may be rising tensions within the witches brew!! When Britney confirmed she'll do the New Years Eve countdown at PURE in Caesars Palace, that left Paris and Lindsay's plans up in the air. Just as suddenly, yesterday Britney pulled out of her rumored joint presenter's appearance with Paris at Monday's Billboard Awards show at the MGM. (Tomorrow Luxe Life will have the full advance look at the annual telecast this year starring homegrown heroes The Killers!). However it is an official "YES" from Britney to host PURE's combined 2nd Anniversary and New Years Eve blast. She has agreed to shout out the countdown and then watch the fireworks over The Strip from PURE's terrace overlooking the front fountains of Caesars! But, from what I've heard reliably, she's said an official "NO" to the Billboard show organizers after she'd originally agreed to co-star with Paris. No official word yet as to the sudden change of heart, which in Tinseltown could always, just as fast, turn back into a reality. But sources in Flickerville say Paris and Britney just burned out on each other after the instant flaring up of never being seen apart and are now cooling their fling, even after being spotted with each one of them wearing one leg each of Paris's sexy stockings!! Will somebody please comment below with the exact meaning of that ritual!?!?

The Historic Grand Prix (HGP) will open its season at the inaugural Vegas Grand Prix, April 6-8, 2007. Legends Danny Sullivan and Al Unser Jr. are already scheduled to race in the historic event with former open-wheel ace Arie Luyendyk, "We're thrilled to have these legendary drivers compete at the Vegas Grand Prix," said Jim Freudenberg, president and chief executive officer. "Three additional racing legends will be announced in the coming weeks." The Historic Grand Prix comprises 50 active owner-drivers of Formula One cars from the FIA (Federation International Automobile) Three Liter period from 1966-1983 including many grand prix and championship winners .The series is designed to present fast, colorful and spirited racing at very select venues in North America. In all 6 open-wheel legends will compete against a select group of Historic Grand Prix owner-drivers in a 30-minute race prior to the Champ Car World Series race on Sunday, April 8. Danny Sullivan, Indy 500 winner, former Champ Car champion and Formula One driver, is already over the moon. "I can't wait to get behind the wheel of one of those gorgeous cars and compete against Al Jr. and Arie again," Sullivan said. "The historic cars are meticulously maintained and the owners don't just put them out for show." Tickets for all the springtime 2007 events go on sale December 11 and Luxe Life will have more details on all the auto attractions then.

STRIP SCRIBBLES
For several reasons, including a sleepless red-eye flight in from Honolulu, our promised Suzanne Somers interview didn't make the deadline, so we'll save it for next week. Meanwhile, PURE is a definite mid-week hotspot for celebrities. Playboy Playmate Hiromi Oshima hosted a party after dining at Social House earlier. Magician David Copperfield couldn't get enough of PURE as he returned after partying there over the holiday. Other regular celebrity guests, poker pro David Williams, boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and pop-music royal Prince also joined in the night's revelry, but they stuck to plain and simple water!

TONIGHT'S TIPS
The dynamic duo of Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood will thrill country fans at Mandalay Bay while Randy Travis goes solo at the Golden Nugget downtown. The Cowboy Christmas Show gets underway thru Dec. 9 at the Convention Center. But if rock is your preference over twangy guitars then hit Queensryche at the House or Blues or for comedy with not a trace of country its Howie Mandell through December 6 at the MGM Grand.
