4. I stayed in the new tower the 2nd day it was open, and the 2nd of the last night prior to closing. During visits I won a new car, won several Jackpots, and married my 2nd wife. It took 58 minutes from the time I left the Stardust, till we returned married. It was a wonderful place that at one time had a drive in movie, turned RV lot, turned parking lot. The Motor Inn like many other buildings was fine, but suffered from decay, and was finally raised. Best of all were the employees, who made each visit wonderful. it may be gone, but never forgotten. RIP...

8. 1960 March thru May - I used to visit LA on business from the UK !and almost every weekend I would go to Vegas - stay at the Stardust - what an experience ! The rates were about $8 per night for a sumptuous two-bed room. Breakfast was 98 cent chuck-wagon and dinner was in the region of $2 0r $3 !!! The big stars would wander around in tne lounge bar after the late show and oblige anyone with an autograph and a kind word. What a life we had thanx to the Stardust

9. My grandparents used to stay at the Stardust every other month once they were retired. My grandmother won a car there on the nickel slot machine in 1995. They loved the casino and the people who worked there. I had the privilege of staying with them once and enjoyed it. It broke my heart to tell my grandma the Stardust was closed. She was lucky enough to receive an invitation to the closing gala but due to health reasons was unable to attend. I saw the Stardust in November with the fence all around it and abandoned. It was sad sight to see.

10. I worked at the Stardust from June 2003 to October 2006. I started out in the Auditing Dept. and even though I had no prior casino experience the then Director of Slots (Danny)gave me a chance to become a slot floor person. I cannot express how much I enjoyed working with some of the people there....and even though there were days, I'm sure, that Danny regretted taking me, I will always be grateful to him. The Stardust will forever be a good memory for me...It was a great place .. Maryann

11. I have gone to Vegas for the past seven years, and the only place we ever stayed was at the Stardust. We loved the old style feeling of warmth and privacy. You could lounge at the pool all day without having to worry about getting your favorite spot, or you could visit the the spas anytime of the day and night. The entertainment, food, and most of all the service was always personalized with a smile and politeness. The slots and tables were great. We will forever miss the Stardust and all the employees who helped to make it so special. Vegas will never be the same for us. Growing with the times is nice, but nsotalgia is wonderful. It all shouldn't be taken away.

12. Only was to Vagas in 1978 in
August or September. My wife
advised me she may be pregnant; so she would like
to take a trip. We had no
children at the time and had
been married about 5 years.
I was not trilled about going
as I am a bit of a gambler and didn't think this was a
good idea for me. However we
took the trip and the flight
was so enjoyable in those days, as after we took off on
this prop plane and the seat
belts went off; we congragated in the back of the plane and the drinks came
out. Well everyone mostly had the same conversations re-garding the gaming industry. Which is why we were all going to Vegas.
Anyway we were booked at the
Stardust and I will never forget the adventure.
I believe it was the first nite and myself and my wife
went out for a stroll to look
around; then we went back to
the room. Well I got itchy to
go downstairs. I believe I
only had about 40 dollars on
me and was at the bar in the
middle of the casino. At that
time there were two dollar
blackjack tables and I was
drinking a couple of wiskeys
and soda. Well to make it short; I was sitting at this
blackjack table across from the bar the next morning with
somewhere near a thousand dollars in front of me. I really don't remember how I
came to win all this money, but I remember that my wife
came down to the casino and
was on the other side of the
table playing, and I don't
think she was very happy with
me staying out all nite.
Anyway she also won about 300
dollars during our next few
hours there. Then we cashed
in and put the money in the
hotel safe.
Then the next couple of days
we just took it easy and went
to shows and only played a
little.
Too make the story any longer; it was the last day of our trip and I was eager
to break the bank. Well the
luck went dry and I was sitting at the same bar as my
wife took off and went to the
airport to catch our flight
back home to NewYork. Fortunately, the barman was a
good sole and got me a taxi and persuaded me to go catch
my flight. Back in those days, there wasn't so much
restriction and I was able to
board the plane. Today they
wouldn't even let me into the
airport.
Anyway I got home in one piece; and my wife didn't
divorce me; and she had put
some money in her stocking
so we had enough to get home
from the airport by taxi.
As Jackie Cleason (Ralph
Crampton) said in one of his
great shows; ''I HAD IT AND
I SPENT IT''. Well that was
a long long time ago. (over
27 years). Have never been
back to Vagas since; but this
is the memory I have of the
STARDUST CASINO AND HOTEL.
My wife is gone now unfortunately, she smoked too
many cigerates. But we had two great sons, who are now
men and in great professions.
Our eldest is a lawyer and my youngest is on the New York Police force.
My wife was a great girl and
has never been forgotten.
Me I'm still drinking and gambling all the time; and
guess I will be that way til
they carry me in a box.

14. Does Las Vegas has historic Preservation?? on the next 30 years investors will tore down again the actual buildings... There is not History in las Vegas... Can some investors such as D.Trump could preserve a few old buildings left in las Vegas?... I Think all americans should be more opposite to destroy old buidings... These buildings have more architecture than the actual one..., EVERYTHING new in las Vegas look like Disneyworld,It is too artificial!! People in Las Vegas such preserve their own buildings such New Orleans, Miami and New York,, I wish sheetrock Las Vegas the best!!!!
